I'm incredibly upset at the moment...

Goodness, this is another one of my pointless rants but please, those of you that read this, please bear with the whole thing...

I'm taking a Health class this semester, as it's a requirement for aquiring my diploma. Nothing too pequliar about that, correct? Well the thing is, I've a very, VERY, VERY ill-tempered teacher, Ms. Willie. I've reason to believe that both students AND teachers would agree when I say that she is, by far, the most HORRID teacher (or even HUMAN BEING, at that) that I've ever encountered in all my years of existence.

I'd first like to give you a bit of knowledge on her.

• One is not allowed to smile in the class, she interprets this as a sign of disrespect.
  
• One cannot express one's views to their full extent, else you are removed from the class.
  
• When engaged in conversation, one cannot take their eyes out of contact with her's for even a brief moment, otherwise she'll extend the conversation by another 5 more minutes. ( By conversation of course, I do mean her yelling at the student, and not allowing the student any bit of time to respond. )
  
• One is not allowed to aid another individual with an assignment.
  
• She considers those that follow her every command as "good, intelligent students". Yes, of course, intellect is determined by cooperation.
  

Now I'd rather not waste much of your time with examples such as those so I'll get right to the point.

Here's the cenario: I was in my chair, obeying her every order, until she raised a question on a topic that I knew nothing of. We had to answer a question, with about a ten sentence long response. Keep in mind, we've heard NOTHING of the topic of the question, and knew nothing about it. Of course, it was fairly easy to b.s my way out of the assignment, but that's not what I was concerned with. I finished before anyone else, then sat in my chair for the remainder of the time. When she saw me just sitting there, she questioned me of it. I asked, "How can we be graded on an assignment that we know nothing of? I mean, it's not a matter of our not paying full attention to your teaching, but rather a matter of you never have teaching it to begin with..." Apparently, that's illegal as well, so I was told to wait outside for the remainder of the class (that's 40 more minutes, mind you) But unlike other people that would grow impatient of waiting, I stayed. I kept calm, and stood (not sat) outside. Then afterwards, once the class was over, I asked for a moment of her time. To express my opinions of her teaching methods. Well of course, this is illegal, too. I was quickly denied my right to mention my opinions, then was told that I needed to "get to the point". Well apparently, I couldn't get to said point, as I was soon interupted once more. She said something along the lines of, "I'm well aware that you're not capable of understanding the lesson, as you don't have the intelligence to do so" Now, fellow MMLS members, I ask you. Is this, or is this not, suggestive? Suggestive of my intellect? What I'm "CAPABLE" of? Wouldn't this upset you?! I'm far to angry to type out the rest of the conversation, as it was simply filled with a sequence of me trying to say something, then her interupting me...

Ugh... I'm terribly upset right now...

Tell your parents and figure out a plan of action. This lady is obviously inept and this sort of teaching method of teaching is both disrepectful to the dignity of every human person and opressive to our constitutional freedom of speech. Let me just say: what a biscuit. And a buttered biscuit at that.

In other words, does this woman sounds like she gives in any way? Does she LIKE any of her students? Sounds like one of my teachers back in high school (thanks for the signature compliment btw):

This was my Spanish teacher in 10th grade: She was a stingy woman that played favorites, and I got nothing else but a pessimistic vibe from her. She never liked me, hated me at the least when she had me, and she did not seem to enjoy her job of teaching. As a matter of fact, it felt like she picked a few students that were already Spanish speakers, and because they already knew the damn language, probably liked them because she did not really need to teach them.

Isn't the point of teaching wanting to teach those who don't know? I am aware of the difference between wanting to learn and then just being a putz trying to get through class, but my doodling in class was how I listened to people, not how I blew her off. She was obviously new to the job and didn't understand that people have quirks.

Maybe I would understand her if it felt like she wanted to teach. There is a certain feel about teachers, and I never got that feeling from her. She always gave me bad vibes that made me uncomfortable around her; whenever the bell rung to get out of class, I was one of the first out.

We encounter teachers like this. If she is truly unbearable and you are unable to adapt yourself to how she teaches, if she teaches at all, then do as Pharoah said. Bringing it to the other teachers and her superiors' attention would be a good idea; I don't know about how the teaching business is and how tight it might be, but I am sure there are other people more deserving of the job.

I'm a little cooled off now, but still upset. I'm glad that you both agree with me, that tells me that I'm not the only sane person. I'm organizing my thoughts in a letter to the magnet coordinator, and I'll give it to him tomorrow morning. Thanks guys.

Yeah, like FG said, your going to run into teachers like this, and the best thing to do is to simply deal with it until it's time to move on.
But if this teacher is truley acting abusive with her authority, then maybe you should consider taking action. Bringing it up to a superior is good idea.

Woah...she sounds REALLY nasty. Heck, she makes my tenth grade biology teacher seem like a saint, and I always thought he was a real rat. He kind of looked like one too...minus the whiskers, tail, fur, and huge ears. But at the beginning of the year he guaranteed us that nobody would get an A in his class, and then he lectured me for doodling on something that WASN'T EVEN BIOLOGY-RELATED and said that anyone who drew pictures on any of his assignments would get points taken off. So, just for that, I made sure to get a hundred in his class for the last marking period, and I refused to take his AP Bio class because he was so mean. I heard from his students the following year that he'd lightened up a little .

Shift, if I were you, if that teacher ever pulls a stunt like that again, report her to whoever's in charge. I mean, wouldn't it be grand if someone who shows that kind of disrespect toward her students got fired? It sounds like she likes punishing people more than she likes teaching.

I've read in the newspaper that some teachers are not certified to actually be teachers. That Health teacher may be one of them.

My history teacher throws balls at his students, but it's all in fun, and we all know that. However, my health teacher is a different story... I've decided to just have a talk with the magnet coordinator, and have myself removed from the course, and placed in another health class with a different teacher. I've filed my complaints as well, but I'm sure that no one will care enough as to fire her, as she's been a teacher for two years, and once one has hit that mark, it's extremely hard to let go of them.

No really, you're teacher is a fecking c0ck-block. I had a teacher much like her (when I was in High-School). Her name was fairly easy to make fun of (and if you can't see what her name could be, then smack yourself in the face for me). Mrs. Hofecker...yeesh, what a Nazi if I've ever met one. Though she taught World History...worst friggin' subject ever.

Either way, I know what you're going through, except I took an alternative way out (which I don't suggest anyone else do). But mind you, she wasn't the only reason I did what I did. It's good that you got into another class with a different teacher, you'll surely improve with this step.

But yes, while what she did may have been cruel, unjust, spiteful and uncalled for, let's take a moment to calm ourselves and take pity upon her and her dismissive nature.

I mean, come on. Her last name was "Willie". Her childhood must've been CRAP.
