Well, it looks like Nintendo's already unveiling 2 of the new Pokemon for the next generation of games. I'm not too fond of the design for this particular one myself, but it's interesting to see what else they'll pop out with next. They're certainly not wasting any time.

We all knew a fifth generation was going to happen, it was only a matter of time. I'm super excited for the news, personally. I think the design of the first one is adorable, the second one isn't bad either, although it looks sort of Digimon-ish to me. I had the same complaint about Blaziken, although there's nothing wrong with that...
I want to see what colour/theme they decide to use for the new games that will undoubtedly follow.

A big Pokemon fan knows by now that each region in the game is based off a region in Japan. I know for sure that Diamond/Pearl/Platinum are based off Hokkaido. With Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, didn't they finish with all of the main islands based off Japan already? Unless they revisit previous regions, where do you think they'll go next? I'm guessing Okinawa, since the Orange Islands in the anime is based off them. But if they go there, then I guess the Orange Islands in the anime will be non-canon to the games.
As for the themes, I say:
Pokemon Paper, Pokemon Plastic!

@rockbusterman: Loll Pokemon Paper and Plastic! |3 Nice! Oh Ya!! I heard about this on www.thespeedgamers.com a little bit back! And I can say i'm really excited for it! |D I kinda spazz out every time a new Pokemon game or generation comes out! I like these new ones! Though I like the first one better. My brothers kinda worried that it's gonna become Wicked popular like Lucario did last gen though. But even if it does, oh well. :3

Wow, I really like these designs! The first one's sorta EEVEE-like, (that's how it's spelled in the games ) but I appreciate how they made it cute and cool at the same time. And that second one has such an awesome expression! Also, look at that awesome hair! Wonder what they'll be called in English...

All I can think of is Orichalcum and Dasmascus... I do like the 2nd design, it has a tirbal/wild vibe to it.. Geez, and we won't see HeartGold and SoulSilver for quite some time....

<-Pokemon 'nuff said. Whether or not the original team likes their creation becoming so stretched, they sure are making the big time.

To be honest. I lost interest in the Pokemon games after Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. Guess I felt that the Pokemon designs were swaying too far from the look of the earlier games, among other things. I thought that the battles started getting boring ever since they animated just about every single thing like the status buffs, debuffs, and weather conditions. I would've preferred just a simple status icon on the side, or just have the weather animation playing continuously through the battle. Just the attack animations are good enough for me. I'm only getting SoulSilver because second generation was my absolute favorite. Too bad the internal batteries died, otherwise I still would be occasionally playing all three versions. I probably won't like SoulSilver as much as the original games though because of all those excessive battle animations that drag it down. But what the heck. I loved second generation, so I'll play it. @rockbusterman: Loll Pokemon Paper and Plastic! |3 Nice! Thank you! That was one of the names I thought of when my friends and I once discussed what themes would be for the next Pokemon games. All I can think of is Orichalcum and Dasmascus... Nice! Can anyone else think of any awesome themes for this new generation? I just realized that they never made a Black and White version yet. Huh... Geez, and we won't see HeartGold and SoulSilver for quite some time.... They're going to be released on March 14!

RockBuster, you do know that you can turn the battle animations off, right? I do it occasionally because as you said, they are quite drawn out sometimes, and I'd rather just get things over with than drag a fight out a few minutes longer because of those things.

Yeah, don't worry, I know about that feature. It's just that I only want to see the animations for the Pokemon moves, not everything else like the buffs, debuffs, and weather conditions. It's fun seeing the attack animations, but the animations for everything else really drags the battles down since they take like three seconds each, plus the text description that pops up after them. :/

I might just reserve one of them, then.... Probably HeartGold.... Even so, it's almost a month off. March is shaping up to be a good month for portable gaming: Not only will the 2nd generation see a rebirth, I can also look forward to Lunar: Silver Star Harmony on the PSP. What a wonderful way to usher in the Ides of March....

To be honest, I kinda lost interest in Pokémon after Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. If I were less mature, me and my brother would be excited about this since back then, I was a MAJOR fan of Pokémon. (I even put it ahead of Mega Man[!¡]) But, seeing as how others are so excited that it's rubbing off on me, I'll give it another shot.
Pokémon Paper and Plastic? Heh, nice. Hmm, maybe they'll do Pokémon Crystal Clear. It's so understand able!

I would really like a pokemon game with 3d monsters that played out on the field instead of a battle screen, maybe with real time action based battles. It would be cool if you could control the pokemon somewhat directly. And instead of having 1000s of pokemon, just work with a small subset. Much rarer random battles and more training with other trainers, etc. I read an interview that said the creators at gamefreak would like to go into action-based games for pokemon, but that's not what the company is focusing on.

*cough POKEMON STADIUM cough*
I have always wanted a pokemon game with 2D environments and 3D combat like stadium. Man that would be sweet. And then, on the DS, the first Nintendo handheld to really handle 3D, they have 2D battles and 2.5D worlds? Backwards Nintendo, backwards.
