Since we have no idea of when Legends 3 will be released, and the slim probability of it being a console release match date, Gamestop is apparently accepting Pre-orders to the Nintendo 3DS according to IGN.com. I myself am looking forward to getting one in my hands as soon as its released. But for Gamestop to be accepting Pre-orders to the Nintendo 3DS this early, gives me the impression that they won't have a shortage. The Nintendo Wii unfortunately did not share this fate, as I remember seeing people having to camp out just to nab a pre-order. I stood 16 hours out in the cold to nab the system, but it looks like no-one will have to essentially do so. Pre-orders are reported to be $50 towards the finalized Retail Value once that's announced. I'm guessing you may select your color as well? I myself don't have the spare $50 on me due to my bills, but I'd figure any fanatic about the upcoming system that will house our Legends 3 would like to know. Man, they're gonna start taking 3DS preorders, but we don't even know the price for sure yet? Ack!
I'm tempted to get myself one of these because come March 2011, I should have enough to cover the full cost either way, but depending on how long it takes for Legends 3 to be released, I think I may just as well wait it out. (I can't see it being a launch title. At the absolute earliest, I'd put it somewhere in July/August) Perhaps by the time the game is released, Nintendo will have already released the 3DS-SP or 3DS-DX or 3DSiXXLOMGWTFBBQ or whatever they end up calling it when they sell you the same exact console in a new and improved package. Or maybe by then there will be a price drop for it. ... on the other hand I could really use a DS in the meanwhile. And Legends 3 would have to be a long, long ways off for that to either of those happen. ... blah.
I am torn.

I'm definitely waiting it out for Legends 3. I don't have any other reason to want to buy a 3DS in the first place, it'll most likely be cheaper or upgraded (or both) by then, and it'll tell the market that at least one person out there bought a 3DS specifically for Mega Man Legends 3 (not that one person's going to make too big of a splash in the Day One stats or anything). And, of course, there is the off-chance that Legends 3 might pull a Duke Nukem Forever, however unlikely it may be. I don't want to be stuck with a 3DS and no Legends 3 to play on it like what happened with the PS2.

I'm not touching the pre-order forms at all. Wait till MML3 is released, THEN give them all my cash. :33:

I don't want to be stuck with a 3DS and no Legends 3 to play on it like what happened with the PS2. I understand that curve ball. Luckily my PS2 purchase wasn't in vain because of the Kingdom Hearts series and Final Fantasy X. I've also wanted to play Shadow of the Colossus but never got around to buying it. Do you fellows remember how chunky the original Nintendo DS looked compared to the DSi? That's what arguably made me ponder how I was attracted to the design like that in the first place, carrying a Stylus that made my hands hurt due to how small it was. The 3DS model looks like it only will have few physical modifications in the future, and the slim design is really eye appealing right now. Since one of the launch colors is blue, I'm sold. Legends 3 could be ways off, past a Price cut of the 3DS, but then Capcom could heartily give us a Demo. I'm at least glad to say that the title lineup has multiple games I'm craving, especially the Ocarina of Time remake.

Do you fellows remember how chunky the original Nintendo DS looked compared to the DSi? That's what arguably made me ponder how I was attracted to the design like that in the first place, carrying a Stylus that made my hands hurt due to how small it was. Could it be the fact that the bloody thing was built like a fricking tank? My original DS took loads of abuse from me and it still worked. If it hadn't been stolen, I'd still be using it to this day. On the other hand, my DSlite got dropped a few times and the screen crapped out on me. It may be all glossy and shiny when brand new, but that thing is not built to last; the original DS was solid as a rock! It's not about being physically appealing; it's about finding what people don't like and making a point to fix it for them. I really have to hand it to Nintendo for keeping their consoles up-to-date that way, even if it means having to shell out extra zenny with each new release. (Even then they usually have exchanges where you can trade in old models for a good bit of cash toward the new one...) I'm not worried about "wasting" money on a 3DS if Legends doesn't end up being released. I'll still get plenty of use out of it, I'm sure. It'll probably sit on my shelf for a long while, but eventually there's bound to be a bunch of other good games to catch my interest. (On a similar note, I can't imagine a PS2 could be a wasted purchase, even though it never saw Legends 3 released) On the other hand, if Legends 3 isn't released, heads are going to roll. ... but honestly, I'm not expecting that at all.

Since I know MML3 isn't going to be a release title (the chance level is "no", not "slim"), I won't be in any hurry to get the 3DS. There's a possibility I'll get it for my birthday, which is about a month later.

I'm currently saving up some money for the 3DS, I don't plan on pre-ordering I'll probably just check every single store in my area for a blue or green one when they release it, I play a lot of DS games so I'll probably be using it's backwards compatibility until some 3DS games I like are released.

I'll buy the 3DS when MML3 comes out, I really could care less about the 3DS. MML3 is gonna cost me $340 dollars (if the 3DS is really gonna be $300).
Also, Pureweavel, SotC is great, if you happen upon it for cheap, buy it.

I may buy the 3DS sooner for the sole fact that my current DS is currently messing up, and I need to get all the Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton games.

I didn't believe it at first. Then, I thought it was an US deal only. I still decided to check by the nearby EB Games on my way back to university.
In the end, it was true. Even in Canada, you can pre-order the hardware now which I did! Now I need to wonder which game I'll pick first because I can't afford them all.

I rather prefer not pre-order those. 3DS seems to stay with us for a good while so I don't mind waiting for it to become a little cheaper.

I have no idea where else to post this, but today Nintendo confirmed that the 3DS retail price will be $249.99 here in the states, and the launch date is set at March 27, 2011. I am a very happy man, let me tell ya'. By the time March 27 rolls around I'll have enough money to cover that and then some. ;D I do wish it would come out sooner though, because I could sure use a working DS right about now. Maybe I should preorder one of these babies now; if they're even still doing that. :37: If Legends 3's price ends up being less than $49.99, the whole 3DS+Legends 3 package will end up costing less than 300 bucks. I think that's pretty nifty.

...Maybe I can get it June, when birthday time rolls around... It'd certainly put a cushion on the price.
To be completely honest, I'm rather desperate for another DS anyway, something that any multi-cartridge Poke-owners would understand. :23:
