Name: Theodore Bruno HP: 5128 (Normal Mode) Affiliation: Bonne Machine | |
Overview
Bruno represents the Bonne's last front on Kattelox. With their home and finances gone, they scrapped together what was left to make this monstrosity. It's pretty huge, one of the largest bosses in the game actually, dwarfing Final Juno even. The Balcon Gelede is most likely larger from what I can tell, though.
Size aside, Bruno is pretty well armed. Theo's equipped from head to toe in weapons, none which are new; everything he has you've seen before in one form or another. All of his weapons barring his plasma cannons can be disabled however, so you can ease the pressure. He's also quite easily distracted, as he cares more about wrecking old building than he does about hurting you, although he does fire a couple of plasma shots occasionally to keep you alert.
Strategy
Movelist
(Note: Bruno will only use the Plasma Shot if you are not in front of him.)
Machine Gun
Bruno fires machine gun shots from the turrets on his shoulders. They're fairly weak, but they can be annoying. Can be destroyed.
Shoulder Sentinel
This is actually pretty dangerous if you're not careful. Bruno fires missiles from the top of his shoulders. They can be destroyed with buster fire, but they explode as well. They also have homing properties, so watch out! These can be destroyed.
Plasma Shot
The bane of many MML players; the green plasma shot. These Life Shield breaking demons are extremely annoying, and they home in on you as well. Hiding behind sub-cities is useful, as they cannot be destroyed. Rolling is risky, but it is useful. Always keep an eye open for this move!
Sneaker Striker
Bruno fires bombs from his feet. These are pretty dangerous as well, so I would recommend not walking too close to Bruno, as these tend to come out pretty fast. Destroying them gives you a little more breathing room, and helps if you want to attack from the front.
Good Weapons to Use
Shield Arm
This fight is perfect for using the Shield Arm. Nothing Bruno does can penetrate the shield, which makes the ideal for a more aggressive approach to fighting him. You don't have to worry about ducking behind a building to avoid the plasma shots; just put the shield up. Heck, you even have a degree of safety while standing in front of him, if you so desire. The short burst of speed gained while dropping the shield is a nice bonus, as you can always use the extra maneuverability. Coupled with a strong buster, you have a very nice and easy way of taking him out.
Machine Buster
Maneuverability is a nice trait to have in a weapon, particularly when taking it to a boss. The Machine Buster is all that and more. It's probably the most flexible weapon in the game, and this boss is no exception. While it's power is not as boisterous as some weapons, the speed, spread, energy, and range of this weapon cannot be ignored. This is great for taking out the weapons on Bruno, as the spread fire means that you can probably hit Bruno for some extra damage as you are doing so. 400 shots (800 w/ Hyper Cartridge) is an extremely generous amount, and considering that this can be one of the more drawn-out battles, it's very nice to have. Once you consider the fact that you can also fire this while moving, you could pretty much use this in place of your buster here.
Grand Grenade
Feeling Lucky? While aiming with this thing might be harder than with most weapons, it's pretty powerful. You can take out the separate parts of Bruno rather easily if you have good aim as well. This takes more skill due to the aiming factor, but it's pretty useful.
Active Buster
What's not to like here? With the attack power, homing capability, and infinite energy, 'ol Theo should prove to be a cakewalk. Attack mostly from behind and there shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Bad Weapons to Use
Powered Buster
I really don't recommend the Powered Buster for this fight. You feet are nailed to the ground while using it, and you really want the ability to use it. Unlike it's cousin, the power isn't enough to make up for the lack of mobility.
Blade Arm
The Blade Arm is no great shakes as a weapon on grounded opponents, so it really won't do you any good here. The only part you could hit with is the beam, and it's pathetically weak. If you like challenges, go ahead, but otherwise I would advise you to steer clear of this.
Synopsis
Bruno really isn't too bad if you know how to deal with him. His Achilles’ heel lies in the fact that he will only do one attack if you are out of his range of sight. He's honestly more concerned with destroying buildings than hitting you, so attacking from a distance is a good strategy. The main challenge in this fight is embodied in the oh-so-familiar-yet-irrirtaing green plasma shots. Once you get around those, it becomes much less of a chore to get Bruno peaced out.
Bruno does a good job as the Bonne's final product. He is certainly a fearsome creation, and Capcom did a great job at capturing that 'feel'. His varied arsenal is rather nice, and it makes it rather challenging to deal with him. The ability to destroy his weapons is nice; I've always enjoyed bosses in other games that had this feature. Theodore Bruno rates a perfect 10 from me!

Bruno's fight was the most intimidating of them all in Megaman Legends 1, to me, a perfect 10 is just what this boss deserves. I'm a big fan of colossal boss fights (Shadow of the Colossus, anyone?) and Bruno was my favorite one, what i did was run around in circles behind and in front of him, not caring about anything else in the world (the green plasma shots can also be avoided by simply running until they hit something or dissappear, but a bad step and BOOM), i fought him many times and i tried using only the buster for this, which is a pretty hard thing to do if you don't have it maxed out.
Overall, Bruno is definitely my favorite boss in this game, and that is good.

This has to be my favorite (or at least one of my favorites) from the first game. The music that was created for matched the tone of the fight I thought and the fact that your fighting a machine about twenty times your size makes it cooler. I give the Bruno fight a perfect 10.

The battle with Bruno was the highlight of the game for me. It was quite difficult, but not too difficult. It was long, but always fierce and exciting. The Bruno's attacks weren't cheap at all. In my opinion, this should have been the final boss. Bruno>>>Juno. Hmmm... maybe, with some tinkering with the plot, it COULD be a final boss, moving from Old City (or whatever it's called) Downtown and later, City Hall, threatening to destroy everything. Man, the Bonnes TRULY deserve a boss like that! But, of course, these are just ideas... Oh, and the cutscenes before and after the battle are some of the best in the game. For me, only the ending was better than those cutscenes (No, not Data's first words, Megaman shouting "HEY, EVERYBODY " and everybody waving). They were awesome, even though I knew what would happen in the end. Sigh... I saw someone play the last part on an internet fundraiser, so I knew the Bonnes lived, and helped Megaman. It was an AWESOME fundraiser, but the spoilers were NOT COOL. I'm not blaming them, it's my fault for watching the ending. For a while, I considered hypnotising myself to forget the ending. Unfortunately, I'm not as easy to hypnotise as my mother, and all I learned about hypnosis I learned from Molly Moon. Oh, sorry, I've spoken more about myself than the Bruno now. Overall, the coolest boss in the game, and a great finale for the Bonnes! Until the sequal, that is...

I simply love this boss fight. The music, the fight, the storyline...everything about me was so epic and great. In fact, this boss could've easily been the final boss of the game.
I give it a 10/10.

8/10 Design is awesome Intro is awesome Name is awesome Very intimidating boss But combat was disappointing, all his moves were easy to dodge and it seemed there were large gaps of time where he just stood there or just walked.

I once had a gay neighbor named Bruno, so seeing as how I played Megaman Legends at some point before he moved away to Costa Rica, I am not bothered by it in the least. In fact he just happened to be a man with the same name as one of the hardest bosses in the game.
...wait, ignore that last sentence.

Overall, Bruno is definitely my favorite boss in this game, and that is good. actually... i fought him with Vaccum Arm, and a max-range 9-shot-a-hold buster with large purple buster fire (9-shot buster was just less than infinite) Bruno went down easy, circling him was just to quick and painless, but wht i did was i stayed in front of him when he launched his foot-based attack for the first time i imediately took those out, next thing ya know...Bruno came crumbling segment by segment my toughie was marlwolf, only one weakspot and it was hard to hit yet he had high fire range and firepower

For something as the Bonne's last stand, this one's a... joke. Marlwolf is definitely more harder (something I call a "chapter-ender", "end-of-chapter" boss or something like that).
Withstanding the comparison, this one's armed to the teeth (plus the foot bombs and your lock-on will annoy Megaman, when you want to disarm his other weapons) but with bad armor.
7/10

Bruno may go down faster than he should but his high rating stems from pure epicness.
