INTRODUCTION
TLT's first community participation Event focuses on the five islands on which the game takes place. While it's our job as the creators to see to it these islands live up to their descriptions, we want your help in making them more visually interesting. The world of Terra features many unique "landmark" objects that give an immediate visual boost to a location. A few examples include Kattelox Island's high ruin walls, the fallen Eden transport at the center of Glyde's base on Calbania, and the towering structure and massive gears of Klickelan.
Of course not each one of the five has to have such a landmark item, but maybe it'd be cooler if they all did? Malt Island with a huge, spiked ring embedded in the side of the mountain, Tronne Island with two thin pillars and a broken third on the ground alongside, these are just a couple of quick ideas I started playing with some time ago. The possibilities are endless and we know how much creative energy the Legends community has. We want to see what you can come up with!
GUIDELINES
* Design a "landmark" that looks fitting in the Legends world and will add character to its island.
* You may work solo or with up to two partners on a design.
* You may submit or participate in up to two designs.
* Designs may be general or made with a specific island in mind (i.e. something more suited to the desert on Chizz), do note however that winning designs may not end up on said island.
* Entries may include names, explanations, histories, etc., but these elements are not as important as the design itself.
* Naturally the easiest way to get your design ideas across is with images. If you don't have images, make sure to describe your idea in detail, everything from colors to scale.
* Sometimes less is more. Remember we're looking for something to visually enhance the islands. If your design's appeal hinges on the fact that it houses (or is) some special reaverbot that's plot essential, it's probably not going to win.
* We welcome entries from around the world, but if going for a written description, please use English so that we can properly consider your idea.
* Keep in mind that many entries will likely be based on similar Legends design concepts.
This Event will be open to submissions from May 25th through June 25th, 2012.
All entries should be posted here in this thread. We want them all in one place so entries sent to us by email, PM, or in comments directly on the TLT site will not be considered. Guest posting is enabled for the duration of this Event.
WINNERS
* We'll be looking for two (2) winners in this Event, two awesome ideas that we feel are best suited to the islands we'll be using them on. That's not to say we won't choose up to five if we happen to fall in love with more than two designs.
* There are no "prizes" to be won from this Event. Winners will get their names in the credits and the satisfaction of seeing their design concepts come to life in the game.
* Winning entries may be subject to design revisions before appearing in-game.
* Designs will be judged by the project leaders, fAB & Blyka, based on a number of criteria including but not limited to: overall visual appeal, relevance to the Legends world and style, feasibility of 3D modeling, and originality when compared to other finalists.
Best of luck, everyone!
