Overview
Welcome to the latest installment of Rate that Reaver! This article covers the mass-producing Amistal!
Amistal's a pretty peculiar reaverbot. At first glance, it appears to be nothing more than a purple, spherical, rotating blob that's doing nothing but taking up space. This blob has no attacks of its own, instead relying on a unique method of defense: Whenever an intruder comes within a certain range, this reaverbot will release little jellyfish-looking drones that will follow you to the ends of the earth. They're usually placed in areas such as in front of doors and at the end of hallways.
These drones, when they make contact with an intruder, will make a small explosion that inflicts a fairly small amount of damage. There is a specific number of drones that an Amistal can have active at one time, and when one is destroyed (either through being shot or on contact), it will be immediately replaced. The only way to stop the production of the drones is to destroy the main Amistal itself.
Dealing With It
Amistal on their own aren't too much of a threat. With other reaverbots in the same room, however, these things are an entirely different beast. The small drones can be very distracting, and while they only have 1HP, they do a very fine job of taking up real estate on the screen, especially if you're fond of the Lock-On system.
The best thing you can do is try to knock out the Amistal's main unit as quickly as possible. A steady stream of shots will plow through the little drones and primarily hit the main unit. These things are pretty stocky as well; if you have at least an A-License you'll be firing for a while, so make sure to keep an adamant watch of your surroundings!
Coming In For A Landing
I'm pretty sure I lost a fair number of tries on the S-License Test due to this guy alone. These guys (along with Janfoden) are prime examples of enemies that work extremely well paired up with other enemies. I kind of like the design, too; it's creative, yet abstract enough that the first time you see it you really aren't sure how to approach it. I'll have to give Mr. Amistal an 8/10.

I hated this guy in the license test! He is actually one of the rare cases of real difficulty in a single reaver and with others he is a nightmare. Especially without special weapons. :11: I'll give him a 8/10 as well.

Jellyfish drones? for me they always looked like floating brains. ... Yeah, and in the license tests they are only there to occupy your time. I was very scared the first time I faced one because I didn't knew what to do, and believe me, these things can corner you really fast. ... Ugh, just the nightmares... 8/10 as well.

Ah, Amistal. Usually I tend to underestimate these guys- and by themselves they really aren't all that hard to take out. It's when they get paired with a bunch of other reavers, especially status-inducing ones like in the fourth key ruins, that the Amistal becomes a threat. Used as a tool for sowing confusion and creating distractions, the 'bots can be pretty effective; otherwise, it's just a timewaster more than anything else. 8 out of 10 here sounds about right to me.

Oh boy, it's these fellas. Personally, they're more of an annoyance than an actual threat. As long as you keep your distance and don't underestimate the drones, you should be perfectly safe. Sadly, they've fallen into the dreaded How Much More Can He Take trope. A real stinker of a trope, considering that they're involved in the S-License exam. Easy to fight, but annoying to kill. So, if their main purpose was to make me yank at my hair in frustration, then they've achieved it quite well. I'll give them a 7/10.

Hm. Is the S-Rank license mandatory? I don't even remember having any problems with these guys...

The S-Rank license grants you access to the Kimotama (sp?) caverns. You find parts for the Hunter Seeker there, as well the red Refractor.

I definitely underestimated these guys the first time I met them. Like their design too.
A 10/10 for me.

I've seen several of enemies like these in other games. This one in particular doesn't seem any different. I have to agree, though, that it is pretty frustrating when you have to deal with these guys on the S-license test. Having to fight one is okay, but three of them is a nightmare. I think they deserve a 8/10 as well. EDIT: I take it back. It deserves a 3/10. Sure it has some difficulty, but once you learn to round up all of the small reaverbots Amistal spits out up, you can just lock on to the main unit and buster it up! I think that it I kind of overestimated Amistal's threat level. You just need to have a strategy in order to beat it. The only thing it actually does now is annoy me.

I honestly never thought the Amistal's design physically fit well with Legends, and beating them was more of a long-winded pain than an actual challenge. Easy to beat, but hard to beat quickly and efficiently. I'm gonna have to throw a wrench in the bell curve here and give it a 1/10.

Trust me-Legends 2 isn't the only game where I've fought an enemy that spawns more enemies and to stop it you have to destroy the main "spawn" object thing. As soon as I figured out what kind of enemy it was, it was easier than a piece of cake to handle...as long as the other enemies in the room didn't annoy me too much. In fact, the only real pain I suffered from this enemy was the pain of my timer going down in the test. =p
3/10

Amistal is not exactly an ideal Reaverbot for me, but I like it unique design and function. I'll give this one a 7/10.
